UPPER PLAINS

This beloved mid-century family home underwent a 2022 architectural revival with the addition of a modern black-cedar 2nd floor addition sitting atop the original white-plastered ground floor, creating an interesting intersection between old and new. Two bedrooms and a bathroom in the new upstairs area meant that the three original downstairs bedrooms were repurposed into a grown-up bedroom wing including a walk-in wardrobe & ensuite bathroom.
A complete renewal of furniture, flooring & soft furnshings, inside and out, as well as a kitchen renovation has resulted in an old home made brand new.
Sense of place, tūrangawaewae, runs strongly through this whānau, and now the whare that protects and nurtures them will continue to do so for many years to come.

KITCHEN

The stunning Patagonia quartzite stone kitchen island was the lead for the two tone kitchen cabinetry. Light and dark delineate the work areas from the storage areas. A change in materials make the bar part of the living area and textures on the aged brass woven panel add a sense of luxury to the hidden bar
